DDA works with City on Strategic Plan

The DDA is working with the city of Casper to retain and utilize the expertise of a consulting firm to develop a new strategic plan for downtown Casper. The selected consultant will be asked to provide an approach that addresses the following needs of the City:

  • Existing land uses and open space;
  • Existing zoning and planned uses;
  • Street frameworks; and
  • Building form

The selected consultant will be expected to conduct meetings with stakeholders and/or small focus groups with key stakeholders to obtain, evaluate and record relevant points of view, community values, issue assessments, potential amenities and desired outcomes for consideration during the development of the strategic plan. A public meeting open to the community will also be held to present the findings of the analysis and provide a forum for public partidipation. Summaries of the meetings shall be provided by the selected consultant, along with the existing condition analysis.

In addition, the slected consultant will lead a workshop that addresses key issues like urban design diagram(s) and potential locations of specific future development.

In a final presentation, the consultant is expected to provide guideline principles for the vision of downtown; urban design analysis drawing and diagrams; design and planning initiatives that identify preferred locations for future development, infrastructure investments and public spaces, attractions and amenities that incorporated best practices and prvide incentives for new development and redevelopment.

The entire process is expected to be completed by June, 2012.
