Photos of Murals as Ideas for Downtown Casper
Here are a few photos taken in March 2007 while in WA for the National Main Street Conference. This is what one community's idea of murals. The photo of the coffee shop is really to show how the downtown handled a vacant property's blank walls - by creating a mural of store fronts, the streetscape flows and isn't abruptly interrupted by blank walls or empty showcase windows - which as we all know are not pedestrian friendly. What a great way to engage our local artists and keep the flow of our downtown streets looking vibrant!

Thanks to the NIC's 40th Banner Year, Casper now has downtown lamp post banner brackets. The colorful and artistic collection that currently graces Second Street will come down in October 2007. What would you like to see go up in there place? Do historic downtown Casper photo banners appeal to you? If so, would you be willing to sponsor a historical banner and have your name on the banner, too?
